Necks are sexy.
The ideal neck in women is a long and thin neck, whereas in man the athletic neck is attractive.
Neck is one of the primary parts of the body that reveals our age. As the number of fatty jowls and horizontal wrinkles increase, we start to feel older. Even older women pay much attention to keeping neck and shoulders smooth and young-looking.

"Double-chin"- Deformity
Fat accumulations on the neck appear as “double chins”. They can negatively affect a person’s overall appearance to the point that even a young person looks older or a fit person appears unhealthy. Treatment of choice is the Liposucction of the anterior neck
“Buffalo hump”- Deformity
Weight gain and can leads to increased fat storage at the upper back and neck area (“buffalo neck deformity”). Other important reasons for a neck hump are a variety of underlying conditions or medications and postural deformity (up to 60 – 90 % of patients) . Bad body posture with rounded shoulders and forward-tilted heads is usually caused by habitually looking down at smartphones and tablets, or leaning forward toward computer screens. If this continues unchecked, this can develop into a curve of the upper vertebrae commonly referred to as a “Dowager’s Hump.”
Retracted Scar
Scars at the anterior neck are mainly due to thyroid and cervical spine surgery. A noticeable scar can be the result of poor planning, poor wound closure, excessive scarring due to genetic predisposition, or a combination of all three. In fresh scar the scar suppressive treatment is indicated. In old scars scar correction is necessary.
Age changes in the face area
There are 2 main reasons contributing to aging of the neck:
Less tones Neck: As we age, skin loses the elasticity it had when we were younger. (Transverse) folds and even small skin bags that hang down (“turkey neck”) develop. In addition, the skin muscle (platysma) shows specific changes. Some believe that the platysma muscle can play a large part of “banding” or “necklace lines”. The platysma muscle runs from the jawline down to the décolleté, as we get older it tightens and loses its flexibility, causing a downwards pull skin of the lower face and neck.
Posture changes: Your posture can also be a contributing factor, poor posture often leads to rounded shoulders and ‘invisible’ neck.

Platysma bands
Platysmal bands are two strips of muscle that run vertically down both sides of your neck. They’re caused by contractions of the platysma, the most superficial muscle layer in the face and neck. Treatment of first choice is Botox. If there is a gap forming at the anterior neck region, various minimal-invasive surgical techniques can be used to reapproach the inner bands at the midline region. In case of additional skin excess the neck-lift is the treatment of choice. Turkey neck is characterized by loose and sagging skin underneath the chin and down the front of the neck. Submental fat under the chin can contribute to the aged look of a turkey neck.
